The recent Islamist rally in Hamburg, Germany, where demonstrators called for the creation of a ”caliphate” and advocated for Sharia law, has sparked condemnation from politicians across the country. Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that there must be ”consequences” following the rally, emphasizing that Islamist activities must be addressed using the legal framework of the constitutional state. The demonstration, which attracted over 1,000 participants, was organized by individuals associated with a group called ”Muslim Interactive,” classified as extremist by domestic intelligence authorities. Scholz stressed the importance of prosecuting criminal acts arising from such activities. German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser also pledged to take tough action against Islamist terror propaganda and anti-Semitic sentiments, firmly stating that advocating for a caliphate has no place in Germany.
