On 19 September 2024, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) expressed concern over the declining market share of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the EU. ACEA urged the EU to introduce urgent relief measures and accelerate reviews of CO2 regulations. While automakers support decarbonisation goals and have invested in electrification, they stressed that key factors—like charging infrastructure, affordable energy, and raw material supply—are lacking. ACEA emphasized the need for stronger consumer confidence and a competitive manufacturing environment to meet future emission targets.
