FPÖ biggest party in Austria – locked out by centrist government

The nationalist Austrian Freedom Party, FPÖ, made its greatest showing to date in September’s elections, but has not been allowed to govern by the other parties, including the People’s Party ÖVP, which lost every third voter. The FPÖ’s unprecedented support in the polls may carry it to victory as the centrist coalition is expected to collapse before the next election, says Barbara Kolm, member of parliament for FPÖ, and director of the Hayek Institute.
