Germany Votes 2025: AfD's Rise and SPD's Historic Loss

In Germany’s federal election on February 23, 2025, the CDU/CSU won the most votes with 28.5%. The far-right AfD made history by coming second with 20.8%. The SPD had a poor result, getting just 16.4% – its worst since World War II. The Greens got 11.6%, the Left Party 8.8%, and the FDP fell short of the 5% needed to enter parliament, receiving only 4.3%
