In a firm warning against the direction of EU migration policy, Polish MEP Kosma Tadeusz Złotowski accused the European Commission of attempting to normalize illegal immigration. Speaking during the ECR Study Days in Stockholm, Złotowski, who co-chairs the ECR Migration Policy Working Group alongside Sweden Democrat MEP Charlie Weimers, laid out his group’s mission.
“Our main goal is to stop illegal immigration. Illegal immigration, as the name suggests, is illegal — it goes against European law. Yet the European Commission proposes to legalize this practice,” Złotowski stated bluntly.
He warned that unregulated migration is already creating parallel societies within Europe: “These immigrants often do not integrate. In fact, they mostly do not integrate. They create their own parallel communities. And we do not want this.”
Złotowski criticized the recently adopted EU Migration Pact and called for national resistance against its implementation. “I hope that my country, Poland, will reject the implementation of this pact — and I hope other countries will follow,” he said. “If we start accepting these illegal immigrants, who will be legalized in the meantime, for example from Italy to Poland, then Italy will have more space for new immigrants. And illegal migration will continue, continue, continue.”
Asked whether the European right currently has enough influence to stop this trend, Złotowski acknowledged the limitations — but expressed cautious optimism. “Today, probably not yet. But our voice is heard. Public opinion hears it — and in many cases, agrees with us. We hope to convince a majority and that in the next European Parliament term, we will have decisive influence.”
Złotowski’s message was clear: the future of European identity and sovereignty hinges on halting what he sees as an EU-led effort to erase the boundaries between legal and illegal migration.
